Rutherford Joins Claremore High School to Build a “New Type of Zebra” Claremore Public Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Randy Rutherford as the new Boys Basketball Head Coach and Dean of Students at Claremore High School. His appointment was approved during the district’s regular Board of Education meeting in May. “Claremore has great facilities, and they’re passionate about winning in basketball. They’re fully committed to making it happen,” said Rutherford. “I’ve enjoyed my time at McLain and loved working with the kids, but this feels like the right move for me. Claremore excels in most sports, and I’m confident that we’ll see success in basketball as well. Westside 3rd graders wrapped up their volcano unit with an explosive finale! 🌋💥 After learning about volcanoes and their surrounding environments, students built their own models and showcased them in a school-wide eruption event. The crowd gathered, the lava flowed, and the excitement was volcanic! #CPSZebraPride

Ms. Golbek’s class got up close and wiggly with science this week! Students explored how earthworms respond to environmental cues, such as light, moisture, and chemical odors, learning how these tiny creatures make significant decisions underground. 🌎💧 By observing their wormy behaviors, students also discussed how human actions can impact the important role these soil-cycling helpers play in our ecosystems.👩‍🔬✨ #CPSZebraPride

🔬 Science with Mrs. Stone 🌍 Third graders recently wrapped up their study of Earth’s layers: the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. To bring their learning to life, they created colorful replicas out of play-dough and sliced them open to reveal each layer inside. A hands-on way to explore what lies beneath our feet! 🌎✨ #CPSZebraPride

Before school dismissed for the summer, our juniors attended the Opportunity Hub at NTC Claremore. Hosted by Claremore Economic Development, this year’s Opportunity Hub connected students with nearly 40 vendors representing career opportunities, colleges, and valuable community resources. 📸 With services from PICME PhotoBooth, students enjoyed fun event photos and received professional headshots to support their future goals. 🎁 All registered students received swag bags designed to assist with their networking efforts and leave them feeling career-ready. We’re proud of our junior students for showing up with curiosity, confidence, and a focus on their future!

This weekend, in a powerful tribute coinciding with Memorial Day, FFA members from Rogers County proudly united to honor our nation by holding the American flag across the arena during the Will Rogers Stampede Rodeo. In this moment filled with pride and patriotism, these young leaders celebrated the values and freedoms that our flag represents, while also remembering and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Being part of such a significant event was not only a privilege but also a heartfelt reminder of the dedication and spirit that define our great nation.
