Let’s welcome Leora Youngs to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! Mrs. Youngs is a 3rd-grade teacher at Roosa Elementary. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law. When asked what she likes most about working at Claremore Public Schools, she said “CPS is such a welcoming school system. My family moved here 23 years ago mid-school year. The school welcomed us with open arms. I stepped out of teaching for a while and am returning this year. CPS has welcomed me back like I never left, talk about encouragement! CPS encourages everyone!” Some interesting facts about Mrs. Youngs are that she loves reading, swimming activities, and serving at her church. She was also born in England and has one dog named Gibson. Out with the old and in with the NEW! In a joint effort between the high school and junior high visual arts programs, they have a brand new kiln. The kiln will allow our teachers to introduce clay projects into our programs. Future projects will include pottery, coil pots, clay jewelry, sculptures, and hand built pottery. This purchase was made possible through a Claremore Public School Foundation grant. Thank you to the community for investing in CPSF and the CPSF committee for funding this request. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss Students were asked to get in line after checking out books since there was another class coming after them. Once they got in line, one after the other they opened their books and started reading! It made their teacher very happy to see her students ready to read without being told or asked. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

So proud of our students when they practice positive life principles. One of our Westside students practiced generosity, consideration, and unselfishness with the Zebra bucks he's been earning since the beginning of the year. Decklan saved 25 Zebra bucks and shared them with his classmates so they could have an extra recess! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
