Could you identify a text structure?
It is identifying if a paragraph is cause and effect, problem & solution, chronological order, sequential, or compare & contrast.
Mrs. Crabtree's WIN class identified the type of text structures of a paragraph . They spent three days learning about each type and practicing with activities around the school.

Did you know??
A digraph is two letters that make one sound like, ch...sh...ck...
Kindergarten students continue to work on digraphs during WIN time. Digraphs are important for our kindergarten students in particular as they are learning to read because if you did not know that the two letters in a digraph make one sound, you'd be unable to read many new words.

From octagonal stop signs and rectangular doors, to triangular roofs and circular wheels—shapes are everywhere. Learning shapes not only helps children identify and organize visual information, it helps them learn skills in other curriculum areas including reading, math, and science.
Lewis' Little Learners at Catalayah took their knowledge about 3D shapes and built cubes out of toothpicks and marshmallows!

There are so many foundational skills to reinforce when playing Candyland - colors, shapes, and counting are a few of them. But it is also full of character lessons - taking turns, patience, being a gracious winner, a supportive loser, and celebrating others' successes. Character counts!

Mrs. Howell's 2nd grade students at Claremont are learning about erosion during their land and water forms unit!
Students make hypotheses and investigate the causes of canyons. In the activity Cornmeal Canyons, students create a model landform using cornmeal. Then they drip water over this “land” to observe how water can change its shape and understand how, over long periods of time, canyons can be formed through a similar process.
