The Roosa Share the Spirit Canned Food Drive started with a goal of 1,000 cans of green beans or corn. In 2 weeks, that goal was squashed when students brought in OVER 5,000 cans!!! 😱
When Share the Spirit came to collect the cans, Roosa students were there to help load the truck! 🚚Thank you to everyone who donated cans for this food drive. 💖

Claremont had such a great time hosting the WRJH Choir before break! The choir led students in a sing-along and challenged some of our teachers to a competition where Mrs. Ward came out victorious!! We also got to hear from some of our very talented staff members. 🎤🎶

Claremore students put the smart in SMART board! They use this interactive whiteboard to practice skills they're learning.

Mrs. Dever's 2nd grade class did a science experiment called “Exploding Hot Chocolate!” 💥☕
This was a fun way to end their “how-to” writing unit over making the perfect cup of hot chocolate. Students spent time reviewing how matter can change states and how chemical reactions can be caused using only simple ingredients. What is it about making a mess that makes learning so much fun??

Claremore students are learning about sorting compounds and mixtures and the difference between them! Compounds are formed by chemically combining two or more elements. Mixtures are formed by physically mixing two or more substances. 🧪🥼🧫

Mrs. James and her students recently completed computer science week! 💻Students had a blast utilizing CODE org. This year’s Hour of Code program combined math, aerospace science, computer science, computational thinking, programming and fine arts. Mrs. James said that NASA's contribution and student engagement made this a top-notch experience. Excellent work to all involved!

Students always love when Officer Hagen stops in for story time!! 👮♂️📚

3rd grade students in Mrs. Millsap's class took to the library to learn more about why books are categorized by genre and how it makes finding books easier! 🔎📕

Mrs. T's groups are studying American artist, Dale Chihuly (best known for the blown glass installations created by his team). These students used permanent marker on plastic plates and cups, then used a heat gun to replicate his “macchias.” The pieces turned out great! 🎨🖌

Mrs. Hammack's class is learning all about DNA and how it's made of two linked strands that wind around each other to resemble a twisted ladder — a shape known as a double helix. These students created beautiful and tasty DNA models out of Twizzlers and gummy bears! 🧬

These students have their game faces on as they work hard to learn about multi-digit numbers by two-digit number multiplication. 😳✖

Kindergarten students ❣️LOVE❣️ their light table! This is one of the many different centers students get to take part in during center time, and it's easily one of the favorites! 💡

Ryan Bradley is the Vice President of Strategic Communications at Alabama and Brian Lepak is the Fullbacks/Tight Ends Coach for Kansas State!
Who are your rooting for today?

Parents are a huge part of the success of CPS! Our Parent Teacher Organizations play an instrumental role in the culture and climate of our buildings. Our elementary sites have benefited from this type of parental support for years; this year, WRJH decided it did not have to stop there and formed its own PTO.
Before the break, the WRJH PTO hosted a Winter Dance. It was a HUGE success; we look forward to more shared experiences and moments that turn into memories for our junior high students...and their parents.

🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS
📃Jingles isn't just giving Santa the deets on the students and staff at Claremore Public Schools before he returns to the North Pole. He stopped by the Superintendent's office; Mr. Frazier was not surprised that our students and staff made the nice list!

❄It may get colder in Claremore but Jingles is used to North Pole temps. Zebs took him over to Claremore High School's corporate partner, AXH, to see if they had any resources to reacclimate him before he heads home.

The COFFEE CART is back for another year at WRJH! Our coffee cart is a classroom business run by Mrs.Esau's class that sells coffee and treats to teachers and staff on Fridays. It's an excellent opportunity for the students to practice applicable life skills. They work together as a team, apply for jobs, run the coffee cart, fulfill orders, handle money and check stock. Our teachers love seeing their smiling faces delivering treats!
