CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants.
Stephanie Greenland, CHS English teacher, received funding for whiteboards, dry erase markers, pens, three-ring binders, and post-it notes.
She will use the whiteboards to practice our grammar skills, sentence structure skills, diagraming, etc., allowing her to receive real-time feedback from her students. This immediate understanding assessment gives her the information she needs to review or move on during instruction.
The Post-it notes will be used to take notes during their novel unit, mark quotations, etc. Post-it notes may seem menial, but with 180 students a year, they go through a lot, resulting in a significant financial investment.

ANT you glad school is starting soon?
Last year Mrs. Stolusky's used an ant farm to help to instill a sense of responsibility in children. They have to feed and water their ant pets every day. In return, kids can watch the fascinating way ants interact with their environment.

CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants to enrich the education of Zebra scholars.
Mrs. Kropp also received funding for a STEM Connection for Science. Students had to develop a model using an example to describe a scientific principle. Earth's Gravitational Forces - A rocket stands on a launch pad before the rocket boosters ignite and exert energy to push the rocket into the atmosphere and space. Earth's gravity pushes against the rocket, making it fall back to Earth. We used plastic cups as the rocket and the rocket launch pad; rubber bands were the rocket fuel that pushed our cup rockets into the air. They also had to decorate and name the rockets.
Now that's a project that is out of this world! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
