CPS teachers took part in the OK Donors Choose Grant process earlier this year. Thirty-four teachers at CPS received funding for their proposals, equaling almost $34K in grants. All three teachers 1st-grade teachers received funding for a variety of items. Mrs. Darsea Sanders received funds for STEM and Literacy Skill group resources. Mrs. Nicole Thomason received flexible seating, including wiggle stools and soft floor cushions. Mrs. Bettie Sue McCaw received funding for wiggle seats, books, STEM activities, whiteboards with pens and erasers, headphones for iPads, markers, chart tablets, a ten drawer organizer cart, and a carpet for our reading corner. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

SCENES FROM SOCCER CAMP Coach Talbert shared, "One of the many benefits of attending a summer camp would be the exposure to different playing styles and level of play. Exposure to diversity is a key to becoming a well-rounded player. In order to be a truly great player, you must learn to adapt to the playing styles of the players on the pitch. The more diversity you see in training, the better you will be at playing with and against players from a different community, state or even country. At camp we had players from all different ability levels and ages, yet the kids came together and found a way to develop as individuals and as a team. I would like thank all the families that brought their athletes out to camp and for their contribution to the Lady Zebras soccer program." #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Zaron just graduated from 5th grade, Lucas and Ryker are going into 3rd grade, and Gabi will be in 1st grade. Over the next few weeks, we will celebrate those who received scholarships from our CPS partners who have invested in the future of our students. Congratulations to Alex Henning, who won the $2,000 Tulsa Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Alex will be attending the University of Arkansas this fall. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Armbrister teaches 1st grade, Hannah in 5th grade, and Asa in 4th grade - all at Roosa Elementary. Heather Lahmann, WRJH Algebra teacher, received funding for 16 digital scientific calculators, a pocket calculator, and a surge protector for her classes. In her "What I Need" (WIN) class, she serves students at their current level, providing both enrichment and remediation. WIN time is a school-wide remediation time; all teachers participate in individualized instruction for students. Extra calculators for all students and teachers to use during WIN time are extremely helpful. Calculators allow students to explore math as mathematicians themselves and solve problems more efficiently. These calculators will help close the gaps many students face due to the pandemic and economic restraints. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Roosa Wax Museum - where historical characters come to life in more ways than one. 3rd-grade students at Roosa bring their biographical research projects to life. Students research, study, and imitate the person they choose; on the day of the event, students give presentations about the life and accomplishments they collected in their research. This is one of those projects students talk about throughout their educational careers. Any of our Roosa graduates out there remember who they were for this annual event? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

BUS DRIVERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Ms. Clemons is a CPS bus driver in the morning and the afternoon, but between 8a - 2:30p, she volunteers in the library at Claremont to work with the students on crafts. Volunteering helps build relationships with her bus riders and those they have in their classes. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

New this year is the Smith Family Scholarship for students pursuing post-secondary education in engineering or music. Students will receive $5,000 per semester for up to 4 years ($40,000) for each of the five recipients. This is a $100,000 investment into our graduates. Recipients in engineering are Logan Kelly, Gillian Quellar and Abbeygayle Hagen. Recipients in music not pictured are Keith Wiginton and Faith Morrissey. Claremore FFA had 3 students participate in the State Agriscience Fair. Students began working on their projects during the first term of the school year. CPS Winners 🏆 State Runner-Up: McKenzie Boyer (8th) conducted a project in the Social Science Division I. 🏆 State Runner-Up: Hunter Drake (11th) and Jonathon Burchett (12th) did a team project in the Food Products and Processing Division VI. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
