Each student in Mrs. Mann’s 2nd-grade class researched an animal, wrote a rough draft, and finalized it to perfection. They added illustrations, and their class book was published!! The hard work of writing this book is impressive, but the pride felt when reading it is unmeasurable!!

5th grade students across the district are getting to experience what it is like to be in the HS band! Students will have the opportunity to enroll in band at Will Rogers Junior High as 6th graders. CPS has an award winning band program including Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band.
Students enjoyed listening to the band demonstrate the different instruments and some students even got to try out the different mouthpieces!
Enrollment will take place in March.

Mrs. Ward's class at Claremont got hands-on with their math lesson and worked together as a team to put together a number line with numbers from 1-120! They had a blast together and learned so much!

What do you use to measure something if you don't have a measuring tape?
1st grade is learning to measure using nonstandard measurements tools. They used Unifix cubes to measure the rug, doorway, and desk. Then recorded their findings to compare the sizes of the objects.

Swimming their way to the State Championship blocks!
Sylvia Admire, CHS Junior, added two more Gold medals to her collection. She is now the state champion in the 200 and the 100 freestyle.
Brenlyn Vickrey, CHS Sophomore, made her debut at the state meet and received a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke. She also placed 8th in the 200 freestyle.

Dash is a real robot that responds to voice commands or any of our five downloadable apps to sing, draw, and move around.
It's more than learning to code. Dash lets kids explore loops, events, conditions, and sequences and see how they result in Dash's real-life movements.
Here Mrs. Hilderbrand's class used their iPads to control their Dash Robots in the Innovation Lab. Thanks to Mrs. Cardwell, all the Dash Robots have been named after Harry Potter characters, making it easier for the students to know which robot they are controlling.

Let's hear it for our kids practicing three of our GE Principles: Respect, Service, and Compassion.
Students from several grade levels at Westside helped create Valentine's Day cards for our military friends at the Claremore Veterans Center. Students designed individual cards and wrote out valentine wishes and handwritten thank you notes for the residents.
Westside students were grateful for a chance to show some love & gratitude to those who served in our country and our community.
Keigan (1st), Rivers (3rd), Hudson (4th) & Riley (3rd) are delivering the Westside Valentines for Veterans to Ms. Patty, who will distribute the cards to residents.

4th grade students at Claremont created posters with their vocabulary groups to help with the story, The Last Great Race.
Posters are great visual references for students to be able to look back on when struggling to remember a concept that's been taught.

Mrs. Brassfield teaches the kids how to make cookbooks in computer class using Microsoft Word. They are learning how to format their pages, use bullets, numbering lists, and insert 3-D models. They are also changing fonts, colors, sizes, learning copying/pasting information, etc. They are creating the front cover but will be adding recipes over the next few weeks!
