Bailey Irene Jones Representing: FCCLA Other student activities involved in: Christian Club What are your future plans? I would like to attend RSU and pursue a degree plan to be a therapist. I would also like to minor in art. Favorite part of being a Zebra? My favorite part about being a Zebra is how welcoming everyone is. I love how our teachers help us with any problem and how we can talk to them about anything. They will help you exceed your goals in the end. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

I to pursue a degree in environmental engineering. Favorite part of being a Zebra? The community! The teachers and staff are amazing and always willing to lend a helping hand. Kindergarten students work on their fine motor skills with playdough. Fine motor skills are just one of the important skills these students will work on all year long! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

📚Books! Books! Books! 📚 So many books in the library! The library is a place where students can choose books from different genres. Learning about places far and near can be found by turning the pages of a book! 1st graders stopped by the library to choose their favorite library book. Reading is a great way to ignite creativity and sparks curiosity! Set a good example and read a book to your child. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

After reading "Clark the Shark", Ms. Brown's second grade students had a very cool surprise. Cameron University student teacher Lindsey Guercio, helped extend their learning while talking about sharks. Ms. Guercio brought the skeleton of a juvenile bull shark. Students loved seeing all the teeth! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

A freshman was named player of the week for the Zebra Softball Team. Amaeli Foster went 3-3, with two doubles, 1 RBI, and 3 runs scored. What a day for the freshman. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Happy Birthday to the United States Air Force Although the U.S. Military purchased its first aircraft in 1909, the United States Air Force was not a stand-alone entity until 1947. World War II proved the power of militarized aircraft and led to a change in the basic organization of U.S. Military Forces. In 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act, establishing the Air Force as an independent service, equal to the U.S. Army and US Navy. With nearly 6,000 aircraft, the U.S. Air Force is the largest air force in the world. More than half a million Americans serve in the Air Force — the second-largest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Six Claremore FFA chapter officers spent the day in Glenpool at COLT Conference where they heard from a keynote speaker and the State FFA Officer team. This was the 1st of many events for this week. Next up - Rogers Co. Fair. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Today is Constitution Day! This federal holiday aims to recognize the adoption of the United States Constitution, and to instill a national culture of education on the topic. The holiday celebrates those who, by any means, have become citizens of the United States of America. As such, the formal name of the holiday has been updated to Constitution Day and Citizenship Day (2004) . Constitution Day occurs each year on September 17 — the day that delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 (Philadelphia) signed the document.

This week we celebrate National Arts in Education Week! This celebration recognizes the transformative power of the arts, and advocates for equitable access to the arts for all students. Our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Gaylord, read "Your Name Is A Song" to her kindergarten groups. They used this story to create their personal songs on a beautiful microphone. Thank you to all of those that teach, love, and support the arts! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We all know Westside teachers have a zest for teaching, but at the end of the week everyone can feel drained. Westside's fearless leaders, Mrs. Hinds and Mrs. Ratcliff, refresh that zest with some Friday treats for the staff. Orange you glad you made it through the week? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Thank you to the CHS football players who volunteered their time in the library. It is always wonderful to see older students model kindness and dedication to our littles. They think you all are the coolest and so do we. Way to represent, Zebras! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Attention parents and guardians! We will have sign-ups at the HS gym next to the CHS tennis courts, THIS Friday, September 16th (CYFA Night for Claremore Football) from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm and on Monday, September 19th, 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. Your wrestler needs to be 5 years old before the sign-up date. The cost is $100 and $75 for multiple wrestlers. If that is a problem please ask at sign-ups about our scholarship program. Practice will begin on October 3rd. Practice will be held M, W, and TH with beginner wrestlers 6 pm-7 pm and Open wrestlers 7:15-8:30. If you can not make these dates you can sign-up when practice starts in October. If you have any other questions, please email Coach Weber at zweber@claremore.k12.ok.us

First grade students are exploring their wonderful new reading curriculum. Mrs. Sanders' class has started reading with partners. This is a big deal for developing readers! They are also practicing the short /a/ sound with decodable books. Keep practicing at home. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

THE MUSTANGS GO DOWN 35-33 Friday night lights this last week will be a night to remember for the Zebras as they got the win 35-33. If you missed the game you missed out on the Zebras showing who they are they are as a team. They are a team that will not quit until the final whistle, a team that rose up, a team that embraced the grind. The momentum switched back and forth all night, big play after big play, but in the end, the defense got the final stop on 4th down to seal a much-deserved victory for everyone in the program.
