Claremore Public Schools is continually committed to developing an atmosphere of trust among parents and the community in our ability to provide not only a positive and enriching educational experience but a safe place for students to thrive.
That is why we have partnered with @FamilyZoneUSA, a leading provider of cyber safety products and education, to ensure your kids are cyber safe while at school. Claremore Public Schools is already using Family Zone to block inappropriate content and to identify red flag search terms from students. However, students do need access to sites like youtube for institutional purposes. Once on those sites students can be exposed to content that may be questionable. It is important that caregivers monitor students when they are on their devices.
As a parent or caregiver of our school district, you receive free access to the Family Zone Cyber Safety Hub, which includes articles, videos, courses, and more to help monitor and educate on various cyber threats, apps, etc.
This week's #TechTipTuesday is access to this free service. Click “sign up” below to get ongoing materials and education from the platform we trust to manage cyber safety across our entire district.

Being a team member is more than a performance on a court but their performance in their community, as well. Building partnerships, serving as role models, motivating others to make their community a better place, and giving back gives them a shared vision with the community that supports them.
For the past several years, the Lady Zebras have helped fill food baskets at @Westside Elementary. This year the girls took the necessary steps to stay safe and continue the tradition. 🦓 💗🏀

Future Teachers of America Day
🧒 Even as children we knew there was great power in being a teacher. Remember playing school and fighting over who was going to lead the group?
📚 Today is Future Teachers of America Day and we want to celebrate and encourage those we know that are determined to become world changers through teaching.
🍎 If you know a future teacher give them some words of encouragement, today!

While technology seems to connect us more than ever, it has also created a generational divide. The art of a handwritten letter will always create a warm, charming, and personal connection between people.
This is Abri with her letter from her pen pal, Carmen, a 96 year old woman who resides at the Baptist Village in Owasso. She is also the aunt of one of our engineering teachers.
Mrs. Andrews' creative writing students write letters to pen pals in towns across the state, such as Collinsville, Elk City, and Owasso. "My students love this project - they are making connections with an older generation and learning things about what life was like many years ago," said Mrs. Andrews.
Connecting with others is more important than you might think. Social connection can lower anxiety and depression, help us regulate our emotions, lead to higher self-esteem and empathy, and improve our immune systems. The students love the fact that they are helping to bring joy to the lives of people who aren't able to get out and socialize with others as much as they used to, especially now that Covid-19 protocols have decreased the visitation at nursing homes.
The pen pal program brightens the days of both CHS students and senior residents of Oklahoma nursing homes, and it provides a vital connection between two generations. The students discover the many things they have in common with their pen pals - shared interests and hobbies and foods.
Thank you to the Claremore community members who contributed stationery for our students to use for their letters. Thanks to Amy Bethea, Courney Castle, Sandy Roberson, and Amy Wood for their generosity!

Meet Ellyssa Walter, Ed.S.
Certified School Psychologist
Hello! My name is Ellyssa Walter, a school psychologist at Westside Elementary. I am happy to be part of the Zebra family! My family and I moved to Oklahoma this summer from Wisconsin. I am married with 3 wonderful daughters.
I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors in Psychology and my Masters in Education and Education Specialist Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
The best part of being a school psychologist is the unique opportunity to work with children, families, teachers, and administrators to support students' social, emotional, and academic learning in school and life. I absolutely love collaborating, problem-solving, and celebrating our students' successes!

To celebrate National School Psychology Week (last week), throughout the day today, we highlight our school psychologists and the critical work they do to help our students and staff thrive and discover “The Power of Possibility.”
Possibility, chance, likelihood, probability - all things that inspire hope, expectation, desire. With their training, tools, and techniques, these staff members empower and equip our Zebra family to not only aspire to succeed but take action steps to accomplish those dreams.

Crystal Kimblern, Ed.S.
Certified School Psychologist
I received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Union University, Jackson, TN, and an Educational Specialist degree and a Masters in Psychology from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS.
This is my 14th year as a school psychologist and my 2nd year working for Claremore Public Schools. I moved to Oklahoma last year and previously worked in Missouri.
I enjoy what I do and love the students and teachers that I work with! I spend most of my time working with Claremore High School and Catalayah Elementary. I got married last year and have 3 great boys. I get to be a step-mom too! We are often spending our time going to sporting events or hanging out with family and friends!
One of my favorite quotes: '𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒷𝓇𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒷𝑒𝓁𝒾𝑒𝓋𝑒, 𝓈𝓉𝓇𝑜𝓃𝑔𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓈𝑒𝑒𝓂 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓈𝓂𝒶𝓇𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝓀.'-A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

Meet Bethany Doerksen-Klopp, Ph.D.
Certified School Psychologist
Dr. DK here! I hold a doctorate from OSU in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Psychology.
My husband, Dustin, and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 12 years. We have two human hooligans (8 months old and 3 years old) and two fur babies.
This is my 6th year working with the amazing staff and students at Roosa Elementary and Will Rogers Junior High School. Now that I've been here a few years, I love that I've gotten to see my students grow and develop as they graduate to junior high!
If you visit my office, you'll see the quote, "we can't control the winds, but we can adjust our sails," decorating my wall. For a Type A control freak like me, it's a great reminder that the only things we actually have control over in life are our own thoughts, words, and actions. There will always be some things we can control and some things we cannot. Staying focused on what we can control will help relieve stress and anxiety before it gets too overwhelming.

Google Calendar is a great way to keep your appointments in line. Sometimes, meetings or events are accidentally deleted, or a member on a shared calendar deletes the event for the entire group. Today's #TechTipTuesday will show how to restore those deleted appointments on a personal and shared calendar and restore a sense of order to the day and ensure a deadline is never missed.
