Michael C. Leipzig posted on his social media:
"I had the privilege of volunteering at Biztown for the Westside 5th grade class. What an amazing experience! These two boys are too much fun! I also learned that this event is made possible for the Claremore 5th graders by CIEDA(Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority) so thank you John Feary, Kara Pettingill Lenard, and the entire CIEDA team!"
We echo that thanks! The partnerships we have with parents and our community supports and enriches our students' educational experiences and opportunities.

Ms. Mercer is new to Claremore High School this year. She did her student teaching with us last spring and became a full-time teacher with us this fall... and this is one of the reasons why! Our art department is overflowing with talent. Watch this charcoal demonstration she did in class this past week.

I heard first grade had some friends of mine
I assumed coming in through the window was fine
Unfortunately Mrs. Ward had her blinds shut
I found her elf.. but now we were both in a rut
I got out quick and headed next door
Exhausted I took a nap on Mrs. Lewis's floor
I woke up, climbed a tree to see all around perched on the easel my Elf friend was found
Next, Mrs. Clifton's elf was in the reading nook
So I quietly joined and enjoyed my own book
See you tomorrow Catalayah land
Touring your school so far has been grand!
Looks like "Buddy" in Hutchens' class was feeling a little acrobatic and patriotic today.

Living in different regions affect the lives of the people who lived there. The climate, physical surroundings, and natural resources all changed the way they lived. These are significant factors that affected the Native Americans who lived by an ocean or in the Plains. Do the Southwestern tribes have the same climate as the Eastern Woodlands tribes? Would they have the same resources? Wear the same things? Eat the same foods? These are some of the topics 3rd-grade students explored when completing their Native American projects at Westside Elementary.

Oklahoma GEAR UP's Parent Committee is a fantastic way for parents to get involved in helping Claremore High School teachers get the tool and resources needed to help ALL students learn at high levels. Thank you to the Claremore Gear Up parent partners.
"See these boxes? They might not look like much, but they contain very expensive chemicals and lab equipment that I could not usually afford. However, this shipment was delivered to my lab today, paid for entirely by parent donations. Parents who want the best for their kids. Parents who understand that our schools are severely underfunded. Parents who make me grateful to teach in this district. And now the fun begins," -Joy Hatfield

Mrs. Ward's class is learning about Compassion, sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. Kindness is one way to show compassion.
This time of year, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, but in Mrs. Ward's class, Santa hangs in her students' cubbies with care. These Santas have acts of kindnesses listed on them. Each day the class focuses on one kind action and then trims Santa's beard as they complete their kind gestures. What a creative way to instill and reinforce compassion in our students.
