Mrs. Ward's class is learning about Compassion, sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. Kindness is one way to show compassion. This time of year, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, but in Mrs. Ward's class, Santa hangs in her students' cubbies with care. These Santas have acts of kindnesses listed on them. Each day the class focuses on one kind action and then trims Santa's beard as they complete their kind gestures. What a creative way to instill and reinforce compassion in our students. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mr. Isenbart's TSA (Technology Student Association) members came to show Roosa 4th and 5th grade about their science filled association. They constructed catapults and towers using everyday items; while exposing them to the basic concepts of TSA, including but not limited to problem solving, applications and teamwork using various STEM projects. Students teaching students - what a great idea! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Coach Short's Zoology class, at CHS, dissected a Dogfish Shark. Dissection can be useful because it allows people to discover and learn about how systems in a body work together. The real experience of this lab, enable a student to be engaged in the learning process and understand the internal organs, identify the tissue organs, and have an appreciation of the complexity of living organisms. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." -John F Kennedy We depend on partnerships with our parents and are very appreciative of their contributions to supplement our classroom activities. Like most of our classrooms during the holiday, Mrs. Stolusky's had several visitors help during their Thanksgiving celebration. One of the favorite activities was making Friendship Soup! A simple symbolic lesson in working together, community contributions, and friendship. The holiday may be over but we are not ready to stop celebrating last week's Thanksgiving festivities. Roosa 4th grade hosted a meal and made costumes. A tradition most of us remember from elementary school. We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count. -Neal A. Maxwell

CHS took 300 10th graders to the Sophomore Showcase this fall to explore the career programs NTC offers in preparation for their junior year. Students were able to pick three programs to tour at the Pryor Campus, allowing more 1:1 time and the opportunity for some hands-on experience with the tools, projects, and equipment. At the Claremore campus, students toured all six of their full-time programs. This event is a strategic opportunity in the ICAP process, creating more evident benefits for both students and schools. CPS is approaching and delivering career development in our schools to help students and their families become more informed consumers of the education and training required to meet their personal goals. Students will continue this process throughout high school. However, the exposure to these programs allows these students an intimate look into several career options made possible through career-tech training while in high school &/or after high school. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Are you a crime show junkie? Do you find yourself binge-watching Law & Order, CSI, NCIS or Criminal Minds? With a plethora of crime series on TV there has been an increased interest in our Forensic Science classes. One of our students' favorite units is the Blood and Blood Spatter unit. This project students have to recreate bloodstain patterns, find the area of convergence, angle of impact, and velocity. No one here is learning "How to Get Away with Murder" but we may have the next modern-day "Sherlock Holmes" in the house. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Roosa 3rd grade read the book Balloons over Broadway by Melissa Sweet, the true story of Tony Sarg, the creator of the balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The students learned how a gas makes a balloon float. They went on to created and design their own floats. The students made the balloons big by using vinegar and baking soda, which caused a gas to inflate the balloon. Here are some pictures of the students making these gases and capturing them in the balloon. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
