Today is no different from every day we for teachers. We are thankful for our students and their families, connections with our colleagues, for the leaders that encourage our growth, and the caring support from our own families.

As a family-focused school district and community, we strive to partner with parents to help ensure the success of our students. This week one of our schools hosted a Family Skate Night to build relationships to strengthen that partnership and have some fun. Mrs. Fay hopes the families had as much fun at Claremont's skate night as the teachers did!!! Congrats to Mrs. Schell's class for having the best turnout!

The selfless act of serving others is a way to bring more joy into the world. It is a method with which to build amazing, passionate cultures within a business, within a school, within a community, within a family, within a team. Too often we can get caught up in the ideals of prestige or winning and forget that the main reason anyone is successful is because of what they have done for others.
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." ― Ralph Waldo Emerson. Claremore athletics wants to be a winning program but more importantly, we want to build citizens that win by serving others.
This week the CHS baseball and softball players held a canned food drive to help stock the Rogers County Sheriff's Dept. Food Pantry. The pantry is open to anyone 24/7. CHS girls basketball helped Westside pack up food baskets for fellow Zebra families.

CHS principals are thankful every day to get to serve our students. This week they decided to put on an apron and show their appreciation to them while serving our Thanksgiving meal. As each student went through the line they were asked what they were thankful for. They received comments like family, faith, health, and one very specific comment...“you coach!”

Community and family are often words used to describe Claremore Public Schools. This week our schools hosted Thanksgiving lunch and invited the community to join us. Our schools filled with parents, siblings, and grandparents sitting side by side with our students.
At Catalayah, RSU soccer boys visit the classrooms on Friday mornings to read, help and mentor our students. Coach Larkin heard there would be some kids whose families could not make it to Thanksgiving table. So they decided to stay to eat with the Catalayah students. It didn't take long, word got out, and the tables began to fill with additional players who joined in so all students would be a part of the festivities.
Here are a few of the Hillcats with our Zebra family.

7th grade English students in Mrs. Franklin's class are participating in a mock trial to learn how to state a claim and provide evidence to support it. This learning activity is a great way to teach students about public speaking and building confidence in front of a group. It also teaches persuasive writing skills. Mrs. Franklin makes a great judge, too, don't you think?

Mrs. Westfall’s seventh-grade class finished their plant reproduction lesson by dissecting flowers and identifying their parts and the function of these parts. A big THANK YOU goes out to Floral Creations and parents who supplied the flowers at no charge!

Kindness is a behavior marked by ethical characteristics, a pleasant disposition, and concern and consideration for others. It is considered a virtue and recognized as a value in many cultures.
Mrs. Stolusky kindergarten class at Catalayah reminds us to be the "I" in KIND!

Bouncy balls, bouncy house, bouncy seat, but BOUNCY EGGS??? Can you make an egg bounce? Mrs. Ritter's 5th grade class at Catalayah decided to find that out. This experiment was not only fun, but students were able to experience chemical reactions in action.
So the answer is, yes, you can make an egg bounce... but not too high.

Mrs. Lane's classes at WRJH are currently working on a mock trial. They are using a case file that includes exhibits and a nonfiction story to pull evidence to prove their case. By working on gathering information and organizing it for their mock trial, they are working on standards that focus on argumentative writing.

The mysteries of the "teachers' workroom." Remember, always wondering what lurked behind that door that was labeled "TEACHERS ONLY"? This week Catalayah students were allowed into the inner circle as the winners of the "lunch with the 1st-grade teachers" auction were treated to a private lunch.
