Native American Club at Roosa learned about The Three Sisters Garden. The Native Americans taught settlers how to grow beans, squash, and corn to survive. Our NAC members created their own "corn" project today to help remember and connect to their heritage lesson. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We know that being present is important for your child’s learning progress. What can you do to help them be at school every day? • Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before. • Don’t let your child stay home unless she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home. • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning. • Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent. • Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The TOSS Grant is a grant used to fund opportunities in Reading and ELL classes sponsored by Cherokee Nation. This grant funds supplies for activities implemented in the classroom to promote reading as a foundation for a courageous career. Through these activities students experience how reading is the foundation for ALL aspects of life. We must build solid foundations in reading to grow up one day and successfully navigate life after junior high. Showing our students some options for their futures is one way to accomplish that goal. Dan Newbury from Tulsa Fire Department shared the story,with students at WRJH, of his struggles with reading as a young man and how he has pressed through those obstacles and now serves the people of Tulsa as a Fire Captain! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Last night, the football season came to an end for the Zebras. It's not the ending we were hoping for, but we can't help being proud of our boys! They fought hard all season and never gave up. They showed what it means to have that #CPSZEBRAPRIDE. Congratulations on a 4th consecutive winning season to the Zebra Football Team. Mrs. Boyd's 7th-grade science class is studying adaptations in organisms. One type of adaptation is camouflage. Students were asked to predict which color of prey would be the easiest to find and the hardest to find. They were then given 5 minutes to collect as many prey as possible. After hunting, they sorted each prey by color, completed questions, looked at the data in a spreadsheet, and completed a graph comparing their data and class data to determine if their predictions were supported. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Newberry and Mrs. Dixon's classes at WRJH tried out a curling activity to introduce the ideas of friction and gravity. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore High School and their parents are invited to participate in an educational trip to Boston and New York City in 2021! Mr. Cummings will be hosting an enrollment meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 6PM in room 615 of the high school. We will discuss our potential itinerary, what is included, and the price. There is limited space on this trip, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. It will be necessary to come to the meeting in order to learn how to enroll on our tour. WRJH had a special guest, Lt. Col. Eric Jauquet, from the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Lt. Col. Jauquet spoke to Mrs. Rahn's STEM Exploration class about flying the F-16 and serving our community and country. He talked to students about his career as a pilot and the schooling/training required to accomplish his goal and missions he served. Students even got to try parts of his G-suit that protect him from the physical stress of acceleration by compressing the body to keep blood from pooling in the legs. Students were inspired and followed his presentation is curious questions like: "What type of engineer develops the helmet you wear on the plane?" and "What kind of training is required to become a pilot? Thank you, Lt. Col. Jauquet, for sharing his career and his stories and for serving our Nation. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Naegele's class is exploring a DESMOS card sort: composing and decomposing parallelograms to find area and perimeter of parallelograms. A card sort is one of the activities that students can engage in to classify, categorize, and quantify various math concepts and ideas. DESMOS is the free online graphing calculator used on the ACT. The company also provides resources for teachers with a multitude of activities designed for students to develop a conceptual understanding of math concepts. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

With the 21-14 win against Tahlequah this past weekend, the Claremore Zebras have earned a spot in the first round of the playoff games. They will make a road trip to McAlester on Friday night. Get out your cold-weather #ZEBRARED and plan on showing your #ZEBRAPRIDE as we take on McAlester.

CHS Freshmen will be attend the RoCo Rally this Friday. The RoCo Rally is a post-secondary college/career exploration event giving students a glimpse into life after high school. Activities will be conducted by educators, business owners, and local industry experters. We will leave immediately after the 1st bell. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Roosa celebrated Veterans today at a school-wide assembly. Each grade showered the Veterans with appreciation by singing or reciting a poem. The Honor Choir sang a song that honored each branch of the Service. Thank you to all our visitors and all the hard work from the students and staff! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
