Oklahoma GEAR UP's Parent Committee is a fantastic way for parents to get involved in helping Claremore High School teachers get the tool and resources needed to help ALL students learn at high levels. Thank you to the Claremore Gear Up parent partners.
"See these boxes? They might not look like much, but they contain very expensive chemicals and lab equipment that I could not usually afford. However, this shipment was delivered to my lab today, paid for entirely by parent donations. Parents who want the best for their kids. Parents who understand that our schools are severely underfunded. Parents who make me grateful to teach in this district. And now the fun begins," -Joy Hatfield

Maybe someone needs to tell Buddy it's "time" to stop playing with the masking tape - it's pretty sticky.
Follow #elfontheshelfclaremore to see what mischief Buddy gets into this month.

Ms. Lohmann's 6th grade Advanced Math class at WRJH took what they knew about combining like terms to solve a puzzle. When you make it fun, learning is easy!

I’m here!!
Your elf on the shelf is finally here
To sprinkle some fun and holiday cheer🎄
I can not wait to travel around
And visit other elves that are hanging around
Less than 3 weeks till the big guy will arrive🎅
I see you teachers just trying to survive
When I get back I'll make sure he will know
The NICE list is where ALL teachers should go!!!📃
I checked in and started to look around
The office staff where no were to be found...
So on through the school I will travel each day
Look out, I'm coming, I'm headed your way!!!!

5th grade took a trip to RCB Bank in Claremore to prepare for Biztown; a town that is run by the students for a day! Among other things, the students will need to know how to balance a checkbook while working at Biztown. This trip helped the students see how a bank operates, and some of the students will be working at the Biztown bank too.

Buddy is trying to catch a fish with the pole he created out of classroom materials. Quite ingenious but doesn't look like the fish are not falling for it today.

Mrs. Ward's class is learning about Compassion, sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. Kindness is one way to show compassion.
This time of year, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, but in Mrs. Ward's class, Santa hangs in her students' cubbies with care. These Santas have acts of kindnesses listed on them. Each day the class focuses on one kind action and then trims Santa's beard as they complete their kind gestures. What a creative way to instill and reinforce compassion in our students.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." -John F Kennedy
We depend on partnerships with our parents and are very appreciative of their contributions to supplement our classroom activities. Like most of our classrooms during the holiday, Mrs. Stolusky's had several visitors help during their Thanksgiving celebration. One of the favorite activities was making Friendship Soup! A simple symbolic lesson in working together, community contributions, and friendship.
Listen in to hear what the students & Mrs. Stolusky are most thankful for. https://youtu.be/m7Vi16DQ2hI

Mr. Isenbart's TSA (Technology Student Association) members came to show Roosa 4th and 5th grade about their science filled association. They constructed catapults and towers using everyday items; while exposing them to the basic concepts of TSA, including but not limited to problem solving, applications and teamwork using various STEM projects. Students teaching students - what a great idea!

Coach Short's Zoology class, at CHS, dissected a Dogfish Shark. Dissection can be useful because it allows people to discover and learn about how systems in a body work together. The real experience of this lab, enable a student to be engaged in the learning process and understand the internal organs, identify the tissue organs, and have an appreciation of the complexity of living organisms.
