Once a Zebra, Always a Zebra🦓 Welcome to our Alumni series, which features our staff, who are also Zebra Alumni! As we always say, once a Zebra, always a Zebra, these staff members understood the assignment! If you graduated with today's featured alumni or had them as teachers, give them a shoutout in the comments! 🦓 Bruce Riggs 🏫Claremore High School - Science Teacher 🎓Zebra Alumni: 1983 ❤What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member? I love teaching former classmates and the students who had Mrs. Riggs (my wife) in kindergarten. I appreciate that the school continues to provide world-class facilities and opportunities that support all our students. I get to teach something I truly love: Biomedical Science. It is very gratifying to see some of our students choosing to pursue medical career pathways. It is a significant benefit to our home community. 💭What is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student? One of my favorite memories is the student body gathering in the "pit" at the High School to play ping pong daily at lunch. High school was very enjoyable. 👩🏻‍🏫What was your favorite class or teacher? My favorite teacher was Alger Flood. My favorite class was Biology. 🏈What was your favorite extracurricular? Claremore Zebra Football! ⭐What was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc. Michael Jackson and Star Wars - "Return of the Jedi". #cpszebrapride

Once a Zebra, Always a Zebra🦓 Welcome to our Alumni series, which features our staff, who are also Zebra Alumni! As we always say, once a Zebra, always a Zebra, and these staff members understood the assignment! If you graduated with today's featured alumni or had them as teachers, give them a shoutout in the comments! 🦓 Breanna Swicegood 🏫Roosa Elementary - Nurse 🎓Zebra Alumni: 2011 ❤What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member? The atmosphere and culture. You won’t find a better group of people! I didn’t get the opportunity to go to elementary school in the district, so returning to work at Roosa has been so fun and rewarding. I work with amazing people who are molding and shaping our mini zebras. I’m so grateful to play a small part in that. 💭What is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student? As many people know, I had an emergency liver transplant during my senior year at CHS. My favorite memory was returning to school for the first time post-transplant and being greeted by all of the warm, friendly faces of my friends and teachers - some of which I had never even had in class. CPS surrounded my family and me during that time, and it is something I will forever cherish. 👩🏻‍🏫What was your favorite class or teacher? I plead the fifth because I’m Facebook friends with a lot of them now. :) ⭐What was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc. Ugg boots, PINK yoga pants, soffe shorts, and the iconic Snooki hair bump. #cpszebrapride

Once a Zebra, Always a Zebra🦓 We are starting an Alumni series featuring our staff, who are also Zebra Alumni! Like we always say, Once a Zebra, Always a Zebra, and these staff members understood the assignment! If you graduated with today's feature alumni or had them as teachers, give them a shoutout in the comments! 🦓 Sayre Whitaker 🏫Westside Elementary - Pre K Teacher 🎓Zebra Alumni: 2002 ❤What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member? The back-to-school breakfast and meeting at the PAC, where the band plays the fight song, are always fun and exciting, and they really get me excited to start the year! 💭What is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student? I remember being in kindergarten at Roosa with Mrs. Steidley, and we made gingerbread man cookies. The next day we came to class and “someone” had stolen them. We had to go around the school to find them, and I remember being so mad when we found our cookies in the principal’s office. I mean, how dare she?! She’s supposed to be a role model! Now I find this memory funny and sweet of our teacher coming up with this fun way to meet and remember all the staff members around the school we encountered that day. 👩🏻‍🏫What was your favorite class or teacher? Mrs. Mary Marshall, my First-grade teacher whose class I returned to and shadowed as a high school student when she taught kindergarten or pre-k. ⭐What was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc. Lose Yourself by Eminem Drumline with Nick Cannon came out that year before he had 100 kids lol. The Hot Chick came out that year too. I can’t meet anyone named Jessica without thinking “It’s me Jessica!”. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The 98th State FFA Convention & Expo was a successful one for Claremore FFA! Avery and Breanna set the stage by showcasing their Division Winner Agriscience Project at the Expo. Five of our seniors proudly received their Ag-Ed Career Passports, marking a significant milestone in their FFA journeys. Chason Sisovsky earned 2nd place in the state for his Fruit Production Proficiency and proudly walked across the stage to receive his State Degree. McKenzie Boyer was honored on stage as the 3rd highest individual in the state for the Agricultural Communications CDE. We were thrilled to have 36 of our FFA members join in the celebrations and take part in the various activities offered at the convention. From general sessions to workshops, participating as delegates, and contributing to the Courtesy Corps, Claremore FFA members made the most of every opportunity. The 98th State FFA Convention & Expo was a memorable experience filled with achievements, learning, and fun. We look forward to carrying this momentum forward and celebrating more successes in the future. Go Zebras! 🎉🏅 #cpszebrapride

Claremore High School students finished their semester-long biology lesson at the Rogers State Nature Reserve. Through lessons on ecosystems, habitat requirements, animal adaptations, and the use of dichotomous keys to help identify different species, they finished evaluating the health of a pond at RSU. 🎣🔬🦓 They had previously looked at the pond's dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and temperature to guess what could live in such conditions. During their lesson they found out, getting in the water and finding the different populations that live there. To conclude their hypothesis, the pond is an excellent place for wildlife of all different kinds. 🎣🔬🦓 #cpszsebrapride

At Westside Elementary, Mrs. Stone’s 3rd graders are DIGGING into science. These young paleontologists are practicing digging up dinosaur bones 🦕🦴(chocolate chips) from the ground (the cookie 🍪). The students drew out their specimen ✏️, then used their tools (toothpicks & toothbrushes) to carefully extract the “bones.” What a fun & yummy way to learn all about paleontology, bone extraction & science! Keep it up 3rd-grade science stars!🤩 #cpszebrapride
