🚂 Claremore Welcomes Big Boy 4014! 🚂 Kids in Claremore grow up seeing trains every day, but this day was special as you can see from all the smiles. Claremore had the distinct honor of welcoming Union Pacific’s iconic locomotive, Big Boy 4014, back to our community. Many of our teachers took students on a field trip to experience this impressive piece of history up close, and the excitement was unforgettable, with smiles all around. This was a proud moment for our city, as Claremore was officially named a Train Town, USA. #cpszebrapride

Mrs. Meyers's second-grade WIN group read After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again by Dan Santat. They studied the book's vocabulary, themes, and illustrations throughout the week. They also used their powers of prediction to guess how the story would end. Humpty Dumpty uses determination to build a perfect paper airplane so they had a little fun making and flying our own! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our Zebra Elementaries had their own Election Day! Our sites turned their hallways into mini polling stations! Students registered with their own voter cards and cast votes on important topics like their favorite football team, top candy choice, and a school-wide debates! The students had a fantastic time learning about the voting process in a fun, hands-on way!🦓 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore NJROTC Drone Teams are on FIRE! 🔥 Team 2 dominated the Willard (Missouri) Navy JROTC Rolling Thunder drone competition on 1 November against 13 varsity teams. They win the overall championship and trophies in relay race, lap race, and drone soccer. They brought home the traveling championship “Rolling Thunder” trophy! Even more impressive is how young this team is, made up of one sophomore and three freshmen! 🤯 Team 1 also impressed, placing 3rd overall and earning trophies in soccer, lap race, and relay race. Huge congrats to all our cadets! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At Roosa Elementary, Mrs. Mann's Second Graders had an exciting hands-on science adventure by dissecting owl pellets! 🦉🔍 They uncovered tiny bones, skulls, and various fascinating finds, bringing science to life in the classroom. Science can be delicious! 🤤 Mrs. Simmonds' students experimented with heat transfer methods to toast marshmallows. They use conduction on a hot plate, convection with a popcorn popper, and radiation with a heat lamp. Who knew learning could be so sweet? 🔥🍢

💙 The announcement may be late, but time has just given us time to fall even more in love! Mrs. Sarah Litterell, CHS math teacher, and her husband welcome their second child, a son, Carson Keith, in August. In addition to his parents, Carson was welcomed home by his big sister, Adley. At Westside Elementary, Mrs. T's 3rd-5th grade GT class recently held the Potato Olympics! Each student got creative by designing their very own potato athlete and crafting a unique athlete profile for each one. From spud sprinters to tater tumblers, these Potato Olympians were ready for gold! 🥔🏅👟 #CPSZebraPride

Our students love their library time, and here’s another reason why! Claremont recently had our first two winners in the library! Scattered throughout the library are ‘You Are a Winner’ books. Plenty are in all library areas, but the catch is that students don't know they have picked a winner until you scan it at checkout. Students who check out these books receive a prize! Once the book is returned, another winning book is selected, ready for the next lucky student to find. Keep reading for at least 20 minutes a day. Students who read always win even f it's not a prize. #cpszebrapride
