❓What are you thankful for today❓ 1st graders made "thankful bracelets" a couple weeks ago! They got to write down what they are thankful for and decide what color they wanted each thing to represent. Now they can wear these around as a reminder to make gratitude a part of every day! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Native American club learned about husk dolls and got to make some of their own! It's so fun to see students learning about the history and traditions of their Native American culture. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

👋Let’s welcome Billy Willard to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! 👨‍🏫 Mr. Willard is a new math teacher at Will Rogers Junior High. He is also the HS football coach, head women’s wrestling coach, and head JH baseball coach. He graduated from NSU with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. 👍His favorite thing about Claremore Public Schools is the small town feel. He teaches and coaches because he wants to make his students and players feel the way that his teachers and coaches made him feel. He chose CPS because he already knew a lot of the staff and knew it was a great school system. ‼Some interesting facts about Mr. Willard is he played football, baseball, tennis and wrestled. He also got to go on stage with Gallagher. ♥Some of his favorite hobbies include playing golf, watching sports and spending time with family. Mr. D took his V.A.S.T. students to Dickens on the Boulevard to perform!! 🎵 They bundled up and were able to play some Christmas songs both nights. 🎄🎺 They did such a great job!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What can we do to review what we’ve been learning and have a little fun? Read children’s books, of course! Mrs. Mercer’s English classes are working as a team to identify the different parts of a story. They’re practicing reading fluency, teamwork, and 6th grade vocabulary all at the same time! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Everyone knows it's not officially the holiday season until you make a gingerbread man!! Claremore students of all ages are creating crafts to spread cheer. They've put a lot of effort into decorating gingerbread people and they turned out amazing! What's your favorite decoration for your winter holiday? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The Cranberry Merchant (owned by one of our school board members, Chelsea Mize) called CPS to send Zebs to pick up Jingles from their shop after he was found climbing their 12' Christmas tree. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE #ZebsandJingles

👋Let’s welcome Robert Cope to the Zebra family in today’s New Teacher Feature! 👨‍🏫Mr. Cope is a new social studies teacher and head girls basketball coach at Claremore High School. He graduated with a Bachelors in Physical Education and Health from Black Hills State University and a Masters in Coaching, Physical Education and Health from Northern State University. 👍Mr. Cope’s favorite thing about Claremore Public Schools is “It’s like working with family! Every day I go to work with people that know me, my wife and my kids.” Mr. Cope teaches because he’s not the type to sit in an office all day, he thrives on the challenge of trying to get students to think and use their brains for good and not evil. He chose CPS because it allows him to do what he loves close to who he loves. ‼Some interesting facts about Mr. Cope is he’s originally from Montana, which he calls “the greatest state in the country (proven by science).” He also possesses a vast collection of trivial knowledge. ♥Some of Mr. Cope’s favorite hobbies include spending time with family, firing up the BBQ on the weekends, watching On Patrol: Live and cheering on THE Ohio State Buckeyes! 👋Let’s welcome Bridgette Smith to the Zebra family in today’s New Staff Member Feature! 👨‍🏫Mrs. Smith is a new school counselor at Will Rogers Junior High. She graduated with a Bachelors in English Education from Northeastern State University and a Masters in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. 👍Mrs. Smith’s favorite thing about Claremore Public Schools is the sense of community and desire to see students succeed. When asked why she chose to be a counselor, Mrs. Smith said, “I realized a great need for that role when I was in the classroom.” She chose CPS because she loves a large school with a small town feel. ‼Some interesting facts about Mrs. Smith is she has 5 daughters, she’s an ASCA member, she lives on a farm and raises Brown Swiss cows and she serves on the board of several dairy cattle shows. ♥Some of Mrs. Smith’s favorite hobbies include reading, showing livestock and hanging out with family. Westside Running Club members had a triumphant pre-turkey trot before leaving for the holiday. Family members joined Westside students to complete a three mile run together! A family that runs together - can eat more holiday food! This is a great opportunity to partner with parents to encourage healthy lifestyles, bond over a shared experience, and make a memory. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
