Taylor Hoffer at Claremore High School was awarded a 2021 Fall Grant for "Picasso Needs a Table (Phase 2)"!
"This fall CPSF completed a grant started in the spring of 2021 to replace the 30+ year old desks in classroom 210. Our art students now have access to state-of-the-art drafting tables. Art students spend 80% of the semester drawing or painting; these new smooth surfaces lift to alleviate neck and back strain as students work on their art for 70 minutes at a time. They will use these tables to create highly competitive artwork that will be submitted to the Philbrook Museum, the Scholastic art and writing competition, Young Talent, the Oklahoma state fair and more! "-Taylor Hoffer, CHS Art Teacher

Students are learning to use technology to make someone's life a little brighter.
"Hey guys, let's make a birthday video for my mom! I'll record you singing on my iPad!." - Asher
The kids in his class naturally and enthusiastically went along with it! 😂 If you were this child's parent, we bet your heart was a little softer, your smile a little brighter, and your birthday filled with a great memory.

Our teachers are back and ready for the 2nd semester! CPS spent our Professional Day learning, discussing, and developing new strategies to keep our students engaged! Staff members also received training in trauma disorders and behavior management, participated in team-building and wellness activities, in addition to meeting with their collaborative teams. We think it’s safe to say we were ready for our kids to come back today!!!

Sometimes a game is just a game, and other times it is a tool to help students learn or reinforce an educational competency.
Here, a teacher uses Boggle to find as many words as possible in a jumbled grid of 16 letters. This activity is a fun way to help students improve their vocabulary and awareness of word spelling.

What did you read over winter break?
Developing a love of reading creates lifelong learning. Graphic novels, chapter books, news articles - they all fill us with new experiences, new knowledge, new vocabulary, and expand our imagination.
CPS schools have certified Library Media Specialists, several with advanced degrees, to help students discover their love for reading and research.

Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Either way, we are all looking for a positive change.
Whether you choose a resolution, a goal, a word - we'd love for you to share it with us on our FB page and maybe inspire others.
Remember: Our students return on Tuesday, January 4th.

Mrs. Brassfield is teaching her students coding in Computer Class at Catalayah. They are teaching their Elves to dance while learning to code!!!
Coding is the a method of communicating with a computer. It is using a language that a computer understands to give a computer instructions in order to perform specific functions. Coding allows us to create things such as computer software, websites, apps and video games.
Understanding computers and learning the basics of coding helps children to develop an appreciation of how things work. From problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity, there are so many reasons to learn programming.
