The past few weeks have been tough on my art II kids; they are "SO TIRED OF MAKING DOTS," but I snapped pictures of their projects and showed them, their eyes lit up, and then said, "THAT'S SO COOL," and they're proud of themselves. I have the privilege of being their educator; that lightbulb moment when they see their hard work pay off is my "why." - Ms. Mercer, CHS Art Teacher.
.....................................................................................................................................................
All of their work is done with a .5mm black ink pen. You are looking at hours of work and THOUSANDS of dots. Oh, and one proud teacher!
It's Always a Great Day to be a Zebra.

Virtual Kindergarten students come in 1 at a time to do their Claremore Assessment Portfolio. The portfolio is a collection of skills Kindergarteners need to master by the end of Kindergarten. We use these assessments to evaluate the student on their report cards. We work on writing the alphabet in uppercase and lowercase, identifying sounds, writing sentences, and counting to 100 by 1's and 10's! Jaylee is working on her assessment book and doing a great job!

That is an especially difficult question. I have so many favorites. My favorites to read aloud are those that try to engage the students during the story. Books that make them want to check that book out immediately after I've read it. I have come across many like that over the years. a couple of the more recent ones would be Stuck by Oliver Jeffers, and a story with a wonderful message about feeling included, called The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig.

My all time favorite book...this is a hard one. My favorite book tends to change depending on the stage of life I’m in. The book I’ve read the most: Brave New World by Alduous Huxley. My favorite genre is Historical Fiction and I specifically love to read books about WWII.

On this #CPSTechTipTuesday, I will demonstrate how you can use Google Sheets to randomize a class list to call on students or create random groups within the classroom. We will discuss how to create the list, randomize it, and give individuals a link to download a copy of a pre-created sheet to randomize the students in their classes.

📚 THANK YOUR LIBRARIAN TODAY 📚
“A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people - people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book."
[Letters of Note; Troy (MI, USA) Public Library, 1971]”
― E.B. White
It's National Library Workers Day and we can't think of any better way to celebrate than to visit your school librarian and check out a book. I know they will have a recommendation for whatever you want to feel between the pages of a good book.

🚶♀️🚶♂️Engaging the kinesthetic and visual learner while teaching math takes a creative approach.
The 5th grade math class at Roosa got busy plotting points on a coordinate plane. Students were able to draw two numbers, an X coordinate and a Y coordinate. They started at the origin (0,0) and then plotted themselves by physically moving to the point on the grid on the floor.
