Mrs. T's groups are studying American artist, Dale Chihuly (best known for the blown glass installations created by his team). These students used permanent marker on plastic plates and cups, then used a heat gun to replicate his “macchias.” The pieces turned out great! 🎨🖌 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Parents are a huge part of the success of CPS! Our Parent Teacher Organizations play an instrumental role in the culture and climate of our buildings. Our elementary sites have benefited from this type of parental support for years; this year, WRJH decided it did not have to stop there and formed its own PTO. Before the break, the WRJH PTO hosted a Winter Dance. It was a HUGE success; we look forward to more shared experiences and moments that turn into memories for our junior high students...and their parents. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

❄It may get colder in Claremore but Jingles is used to North Pole temps. Zebs took him over to Claremore High School's corporate partner, AXH, to see if they had any resources to reacclimate him before he heads home. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE #ZebsandJingles

Superior Land Designs, based out of Georgia, wanted to give back to the communities of their employees through a matched donation pool. Westside received $2,500 to help provide students a memorable holiday! 👟🎁🍴This generous gift purchased 50 new pairs of shoes for many students. In addition to shoes, the company sponsored Christmas gifts for some students and Christmas meals for others. Another anonymous donor funded ten more meals for students and their families this season. 😁Westside Counselor, Mrs. Lyons shared, "The smiles on their faces this week were heartwarming as I cut off the tags of these BRAND NEW SHOES. Every single one wore them proudly down the hallways back to their classrooms. Many stopped others in the hallways to show them off." The holiday spirit is alive at Westside! Thank you to Superior Land Designs and the anonymous donor for the inspiring generosity! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The COFFEE CART is back for another year at WRJH! Our coffee cart is a classroom business run by Mrs.Esau's class that sells coffee and treats to teachers and staff on Fridays. It's an excellent opportunity for the students to practice applicable life skills. They work together as a team, apply for jobs, run the coffee cart, fulfill orders, handle money and check stock. Our teachers love seeing their smiling faces delivering treats! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

👋 Let's welcome Ashley Ramsey to the Zebra family in today's New Teacher Feature! 👩‍🏫Ms. Ramsey is a new drama teacher at Claremore High School, teaching drama, theater production, and speech and debate. In addition to teaching, she sponsors the Speech and Debate Club, Dead Poets Society, and Improve Club. She received her Bachelor of Science from MIT. 👍When asked what she likes most about CPS, Ms. Ramsey exclaimed, "The amazing students!" Ms. Ramsey wants to provide a safe space for students to be themselves and to build confidence. 👨‍🎓Teaching at CHS brought her back to her roots, reciting a familiar motto, "Once a Zebra, Always a Zebra." Although she received her high school diploma from the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, she walked with the CHS Class of 2000. ♥ Her hobbies include acting, dancing, karaoke, weightlifting, sewing, baking, golf, volunteering, reading, bobbin lace making, carpentry, and so much more! ‼An interesting fact about Ms. Ramsey is that she is an ovo-lacto vegetarian. Next time you see her, ask her what that is. She is also the Rogers Country Cherokee Association Vice President. CPS has a School-Based Social Worker (SBSW) at each site. Seeing a need within our schools, the WRJH SBSW hosted a coat and hoodie drive before the break. Our students and staff donated ninety-eight items to care for our Zebra family! Our CHS volleyball team took a special interest in this project. Because of their kindness and effort, many of our WRJH students will be much warmer this winter. If you locate any new or like new coats/hoodies over the holidays, reach out to any of our SBSW to see if they could use them to meet the needs of some of our Zebras. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
