🦓 Keeli (Garroutte) Coyle
🏫Claremore High School - Teacher
🎓Zebra Alumni: 2009
❤What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member?
I think continuing to be a part of school/community traditions is my favorite part. There are so many events/opportunities at the high school, and it is so fun to see students get to participate in them each year.
💭What is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student?
In High School, I have lots of softball memories. I was fortunate to play with my sister and other best friends, which was a blast. We played at Hall of Fame in three different state tournaments and I loved every minute of that experience.
👩🏻🏫What was your favorite class or teacher?
At Roosa, I loved Mrs. Lehman in Kindergarten and Mrs. Salley in third grade. In High School, I had too many favorites to list, but I got to have my mom as a teacher in three different classes, and she was fantastic. In fact, she taught me in both classes I teach currently.
🥎What was your favorite extracurricular?
Softball
⭐What was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc.
Harsh side part, low rise jeans, original yoga pants with a flair, layered shirts, long necklaces, silly unnecessary belts, and Poker face by Lady Gaga and Boom Boom Pow were two top songs in May 2009.

❤What has been your favorite part about returning as a staff member?
I love the community and have been so welcomed, and I feel like I am right where I belong. It is also fun getting to work with some of the teachers who taught me while I was a student at CHS.I love that I feel confident in knowing I can always ask questions and have mentors to help me navigate my first year at CPS. No one has ever turned me away or said they couldn't help; it is like a big family helping each other succeed.
💭What is one of your favorite memories from being a CPS student?
It is hard to choose just one, but doing the lip dubs every year was always a lot of fun.
👩🏻🏫What was your favorite class?
Art was definitely one of my favorite classes.
🏈What was your favorite extracurricular?
I loved to play soccer!
⭐What was trending when you graduated? Clothes, songs, movies, etc.
One thing I remember being big when I graduated was the students putting Chuck Norris memes everywhere, lots of people wore scarves, and we had to wear lanyards with our student ID everywhere.

I have memories of students saying thank you in the classroom, of coaching, and of just being able to help students believe in themselves a little more to be successful.
That one kind, positive, or encouraging word may be all they need to get through the day.

🍎 What does it mean to be a Zebra to you? It has been almost half of my life. When Mr. Blevins hired me, he told me, Perry, you will really like it. He told me he could tell that I was passionate about what I was doing in my life as a Husband, Parent, Coach, and Teacher. On earth, that would be a wonderful way to be remembered. I appreciate the many people I have worked with over the years. My friends will be missed, but I will keep in contact. I hope people consider me a good person who represents OUR school. It is Our school and a lifelong special HONOR known as a ZEBRA. #cpszebrapride

1998 was my first year in education and at Claremore Public Schools.

🍎 How many years have you been in education? 26 years
🍎 What are you most proud of in your time at CPS? I am proud that we have a district that prioritizes reaching students at risk of dropping out of high school. I am proud when I think about all the students I have seen go through our doors and now have beautiful, happy, productive lives.
🍎What will you take from your experience here at CPS into this next season of life?
One thing I will take from teaching is that I do not know what kind of day, night, or morning someone may have. People, day to day, are fighting horrendous battles.
That one kind, positive, or encouraging word may be all they need to get through the day.
🍎 What are the memories you will take with you?
🍎 What advice would you give a new teacher? Teaching is hard. Kids can be hard. Don't take it personally when they might take it out on you. Know your subject. Always be open to learning new and creative teaching methods.
🍎How do you hope your students remember you? I hope my students remember me as someone who knew and understood their struggles. Someone who believed in them and supported them through it all.
🍎What are your plans after retirement? When I retire, I plan to spend much time with family, travel a little, enjoy some of my hobbies, and do volunteer work.
🍎 What does it mean to be a Zebra to you? Being a Zebra means we fight for every child.

$2 , 4 5 5 , 4 1 0 That is the amount of scholarships the Class of 2024 reported receiving this year.
Fifteen CPS Seniors received $1,000 each from the Bluejacket Scholarship Fund, totaling 15 scholarships and a $15,000 investment.
Pictured representing their college of choice is:
🔴 Rogers State University: Layne Rice & Jayce Rice
🔴 Oklahoma State University: Payton Roberts, Madison Ferrel, Mason Erstad & Zachary Hinds
🔴 Baylor University: Andrew Mason
🔴 University of Oklahoma: Meredith Andrews, Mason Pixley, Jared Young & Gracie Roberts

The Bluejacket Scholarship was established by Donald and Estelle Bluejacket and is administered by the Claremore Public Schools Foundation. Having no children of their own, they arranged to leave a lasting gift to Claremore students. It was the Bluejacket's wish to give back to Claremore students in a meaningful and lasting way.
In 2005, their estate was given to the Claremore Public Schools Foundation to invest for future Claremore students' generations.
2007 Sam and Hazel Lessley contributed substantially to the Bluejacket Scholarship endowment. The Bluejackets directed the Claremore Public Schools Foundation to award scholarships to students "with proven records of academic achievement."
